| How
to: Pocket PC 2003 |
| |
Use the directions below to create a dial-up connection for
the
Pocket PC 2003 operating system.
|
| 1] |
Tap Start, then Settings, then Connections (at the bottom).
Tap the Connections icon.
Note:
If your modem isn't inserted, insert it now.
|
| 2] |
Tap Make New Connection.
|
| 3] |
Under
Enter a name for the connection..., type in BAMnet.
Tap Next to continue.
|
| 4] |
Under
Select a Modem, choose the modem that's installed, or select
the "hayes compatible" modem option if using a cell
phone as your modem.
|
| 5] |
Enter
Country code (for U.S., enter 1), Area Code, and Phone number.
Tap Next to continue.
Visit our Dial-Up
Number page and choose your desired dialup number.
Notes:
If dialing our U.S. 1-800 modem number, enter 800 as
the area code, then 737-7530 as the telephone number. If
dialing one of our non-800 style numbers (see
list), use the calling format that works for the area
you are in. For example, if no area code is required when
dialing, you might only need XXX-XXXX as the number to dial.
Each country/state have their own calling formats. For more
information on calling patterns including access from Hotels,
visit our Helpful Tips section in the upper right corner
of this page.
|
| 6] |
Enter
your User name and Password. Tap the box for Save password.
Add "@bamnet" to the end of your user name. For
example username@bamnet. Important:
do not add ".com" to the end of @bamnet - this
will not work!
Now
try dialing BAMnet. While dialing BAMnet, the dial number
should read as 1-800-737-7530.
|
| 7] |
Where
do I find the BAMnet connection?
Tap Start,
Settings,Connections (tab), and Connections
(icon). Tap Connect. The Resource should already
be set to BAMnet.
If you choose
to use one of the preset "Work" settings, or other
presets that add unwanted characters to the dial string
(i.e. 9,001800-737-7530) which
will not work, you might need to swich back to "local"
mode in order for your connection to work. However, if you
need to make edits to how your device dials (i.e. adding
a 9, or other outside line digits), while in the Connections
window, click Dialing Locations from the bottom,
click Dialing Patterns to edit dial string patterns.
Once connected,
always remember to disconnect when finished using the Internet!
|
| |
|
| What
do I do now? Upon a successful modem connection,
open the built-in Internet browser, or configure your device
for email, and start using the Internet. When finished browsing,
please remember to disconnect from BAMnet.
